Storm clouds boiled and rumbled over a vast empty grassland, blotting out the sun and throwing the land into pitch black darkness. At the center of the huge plain was a brown white she-cat, standing calmly in the rain which was gradually getting heavier as the storm drew closer. But the cat didn't seemed bothered at all, for she knew when she woke up her pelt would be dry. It was a dream from StarClan. Or so the cat thought, but she was about to be surprised- and it wasn't going to be a pleasant surprise, either.
Her name was Willowpool. She was medicine cat of the clan known as MorningClan, so she was used to dreams like this. The last time she had dreamed about storms like these, it had only been a fox in the southernmost part of their territory, so she wasn't anxious like any normal cat would be.
The rain had reached it's peak when Willowpool began to become impatient. She had been there for ten minutes already and nothing had happened except the increasing power of the storm, which was now howling around her. That's when she realized the storm was even worse than the fox. Now starting to get worried, she called out to the thundering sky, her words almost drowned out by the wind.
"StarClan! Where are you?! What does this mean?" There was no answer that Willowpool could hear except for the howling of the wind. Willowpool was starting to panic now. The storm had reached a terrifying stage, and strange funnels dipped out of the sky and made their way towards her, ripping the ground up behind them. With a jolt, Willowpool realized the rain wasn't water. It was salty, and red. It's blood! the medicine cat realized.
All of a sudden, a black cat, barely visible in the raging storm appeared, or Willowpool had just now seen him due to the flashing of lightning. But she thought she would have been able to see his eyes. Those eyes... Willowpool thought with a shudder. His eyes were an icy blue color that could send shivers down anybody's spine.
"W-Who are you?" Willowpool asked the black cat. He didn't say a word, he just walked up to her so her was right in her face. Willowpool resisted the urge to bristle and was about to repeat her question when the black cat spoke, his voice thundering above the raging wind as if the storm itself was speaking.
"Red rain will fall,
and newleaf brings
a dark sky."
